"I am proud to be your voice in the South Carolina General Assembly. Many goals have been met, but there are still challenges, issues and concerns that need to be addressed in our community. I grew up in this community and along with my brother, continue the business started by our parents in this community. With your support, I will use my years of experience as Representative of House District 76 to continue the progress we have made.”
Past Achievements and Future Goals
We have been working to gain full benefits for our veterans and their families. If re-elected I will do my part to continue to fight for job preferences for veterans and their spouses. Our veterans should also receive full not partial tax benefits here in South Carolina.
By utilizing respectful, professional relationships honed over the years, I have helped numerous South Carolinians, especially in rural communities, gain access to the healthcare system. I have authored a bill to require eye exams for renewal of a SC driver’s license as an eye health initiative.
I have requested and ensured funding for state-of-the-art senior center. Worked with pharmaceutical companies to ensure seniors have affordable options to obtain medications and supported legislation on stroke prevention and treatment.
Ensured that one-hundred thirty-eight (138) students in District 76 received tuition grants for the 2017-2018 school year. I supported the Bullying Prevention Act and facilitated approval of a bill to secure $3 million in recurring funds and $5 million in non-recurring funds for the purchase and lease of new school buses.
As a member of the SC Agency Head Salary Commission, I help to ensure that salaries for women are equal to their male counterparts. As a strong advocate and promoter of women, I have assisted women in securing positions on boards and commissions – Richland County has tripled the number of female magistrates.
